Optimising development and humanitarian programmes with evidence-driven insights.
How a conviction became a consulting practice
Working inside Cameroon's development sector, we kept encountering the same pattern. Community based organizations were doing genuinely important work, preventing disease and promoting health, strengthening livelihoods, protecting women from violence, fighting for legal rights for most vulnerable, educating children who had been left behind by every system that was supposed to serve them. But when it came time to account for that work, something broke down.
For most of the local organizations, data was collected but never analyzed. Reports were written but never read. Evaluations are often not planned at the beginning of the project, commissioned at the end of projects, are often too late to change anything, and then filed away. Donors received numbers and incomplete impact narratives. Communities received nothing.
The evidence existed. The impact was real. But the connection between the two was missing.
What if organizations, who make up a critical segment of the development sector doing the most important work in Cameroon had access to the same quality of evidence, the same rigor, and the same analytical capability that international agencies take for granted?
Not as a luxury. Not as a compliance exercise. But as a genuine tool for making better decisions, reaching more people, and proving beyond doubt that what they were doing was working.
That question became impossible to ignore.
The Group for Research, Monitoring and Evaluation Consulting was conceived on a belief that was simple in words but radical in practice: “That data should lead to actual change, not just fill a report.”
GREME positioned itself differently from what was available in the local market. Not an international firm parachuting in with standardized tools and little contextual knowledge. Not a solo consultant without the systems to deliver consistently. But a registered, professional, locally rooted group that could combine international methodological standards with the kind of deep contextual understanding that only comes from being present, in the communities, in the language, in the reality of what development work looks like on the ground in Cameroon.
At GREME Consulting, we believe data should lead to actual change rather than just being used to complete a report. We collaborate with enterprises, community-based organizations, development organisations, and government institutions to create Monitoring and Evaluation systems that are utilized to enhance programs, make more informed decisions, and show significant effect. We offer experience and collaboration to help you go from insight to action, whether you're creating a new project, looking for funding, or trying to figure out what's working. We assist organizations in creating a culture where evidence is the cornerstone of everything, not just programs.
To be the leading research, monitoring and evaluation partner in Africa, ensuring no development decision is made without evidence, no vulnerable community's story goes untold, and no organization lacks the capacity to learn, adapt, and demonstrate the change it creates.

A lean, expert-led organization with over 20 years of combined experience across Africa.
GREME is a lean, expert-led organization built around a core team of development professionals with complementary specializations in monitoring and evaluation, operational information management, data analytics, and community capacity building. The team brings over 20 years of combined experience working with UN agencies, international NGOs, and research institutions across Cameroon, Burkina Faso, and the wider West and Central Africa region.
The organization operates through a deliberately distributed model: a small permanent leadership and coordination core supported by a network of vetted part-time associates, experienced practitioners who are engaged on a project basis and bring deep sectoral and contextual expertise. This structure keeps overhead low, ensures the right skills are deployed for each engagement, and reflects the agile, systems-leveraging approach that defines GREME's work.
